Dez Bryant Signs With Saints

When news broke that New Orleans was working out Bryant and two other receivers, it felt like the ideal match from the start.

Over the course of his eight-year career, Bryant has appeared in 113 regular season games with 99 starts, posting 531 receptions for 7,459 yards (14.0 avg.) with 73 touchdowns.

Not long after his release from Dallas, Bryant turned down a three-year contract offer from the Baltimore Ravens, according to several media outlets.

Many have called Bryant "washed up" and "old", but his numbers last season with the Dallas Cowboys say otherwise.

Sources told Schefter that Bryant, who will sign the deal Thursday, is comfortable proving what he can do for a contending team this season before becoming a free agent again.

Despite all that, there doesn't seem to be any animosity between the Cowboys and Bryant.

Bryant worked out with the Saints yesterday and is slated to fill the void left by Ted Ginn Jr. when he was placed on injured reserve last month. Michael Thomas is clearly the No. 1 wide receiver, as he sits second in the league in catches (70), fourth in yards (880) and second in yards per game (110).

The Dallas Cowboys did Dez Bryant no favors by cutting him as late as they did, and he lingered available through half a season.

And the news of Bryant's arrival in The Big Easy was met with excitement in the Saints' locker room. "I think he's going to be a good veteran for that team".

"It'll be exciting to face Dez, especially with him coming to his home here", Elliott said.

Speculation has been rife surrounding Bryant's attitude, and it's something the Saints considered.

The 30-year-old Bryant spent his first eight years in the National Football League with Dallas and last season caught 69 passes for 838 yards and six touchdowns, including a 50-yard scoring play, for the Cowboys.

"Dez is a great player". "I know it's important to him".

Added Cowboys coach Jason Garrett: "I'm happy he has an opportunity to go play and finish the right way, it will be a great environment for him to go out and make an impact".
