U.S. Iran Sanctions Take Effect, No Word Yet On Waiver Countries

The second, and final round of, USA sanctions go into effect on Monday, specifically targeting Iran's crude oil exports, shipping and ports and the financial system.

On Monday, 5 November, the USA will not only be re-imposing the sanctions that were in place before the insane Iranian nuclear deal was entered into, but there'll be over several hundred designations, Pompeo said.

Pompeo said earlier on CBS' "Face the Nation" that he was "confident" Iran would not restart its nuclear program with the US withdrawing from the deal.

"America wanted to cut to zero Iran's oil sales. but we will continue to sell our oil.to break sanctions", Rouhani told economists at a meeting broadcast live on state television.

Before travelling to a campaign rally for the United States mid-term elections, President Donald Trump said Iran was already struggling under his administration's policies.

Sunday's (November 4) demonstration comes as Washington prepares to restore sanctions lifted under the 2015 nuclear deal.

Wallace attempted to press Pompeo on the alleged Swift exemptions, to which the Secretary of State said: "The Iranian banks that engage in sanctionable behavior will be sanctioned by the Department of Treasury, period, full stop".

France, Germany, Britain, and the European Union issued a joint condemnation Friday of the U.S. move, vowing to protect European companies doing "legitimate" business with Tehran.

The Trump administration's decision to restore sanctions "is the sea change the Middle East has been waiting for", he said. America should learn that it cannot use the language of force against Iran.

Entertainment has responded to a tweet from US President Donald Trump that used the Game Of Thrones typefont and recast its popular catchphrase, "Winter is coming".

The measures target Iran's vital energy and banking sectors.

Broader oil markets remain constrained by trade fears and impending oversupply. "And we're going to provide that to them".

"These sanctions have already had an enormous impact", Pompeo said, adding that Trump's policy will be "fully in place" as of Monday. In fact, the U.S. has indicated intent of supplying $2.5-3 billion oil and gas at short notice if India needed it to meet the shortfall arising out of cut in Iranian oil imports.

"So the ultimate objective is to pressure Iran to get back to the table of negotiations as per the terms of US President Donald Trump's administration".

In 2012, South Korea received a waiver on United States sanctions by importing limited amounts of Iranian oil during the previous round of sanctions that were lifted in early 2016.

"Market surveys of Iranian exports show a decline of more than 1 million barrels per day (bpd) as of October from May", Edward Bell, commodity analyst at Emirates NBD bank said.

But Mr Rouhani struck a defiant tone, saying that Iran would "continue selling oil".

Next, add the ongoing massive trade war between the U.S. and China, such that the impact of United States sanctions against China relating to Iran are really a small piece of a much bigger game.

Iranian army Gen. Habibillah Sayyari said both the national army and the country's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard were taking part in the exercise.

Some 52 Americans were held hostage for 444 days in Iran.
