Floyd Mayweather To Fight Kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa On New Year’s Eve

Through all the rumors over the past few months, we finally got an answer as to who would be Floyd Mayweather's next opponent.

Floyd Mayweather has stunned the combat sports world by announcing he is joining forces with the Rizin Fighting Federation, a Japanese mixed martial arts company, and will fight kickboxing sensation Tenshin Nasukawa on New Year's Eve in Japan.

Mayweather's latest move comes as a major shock after he announced his second retirement from the ring following his defeat of Irish mixed martial arts (MMA) star Conor McGregor in a crossover boxing match a year ago.

Nasukawa is now one of their biggest stars, headlining Rizin 13 in September in a kickboxing bout against Bantamweight Grand Prix Champion Kyogi Horiguchi which Tenshin won by decision.

But his fight with Mayweather is not expected to be contested under MMA rules.

"There is definitely life outside of Earth for sure", Nasukawa said.

"I can wrestle, I can wrestle little bit".

Throughout his professional career, the American was famed for his defensive skills, with his precise footwork and elusive head movement making him an nearly impossible target for even the best in the world to land a glove on. I can do it all.

"I'm not particular about the rules - with or without kicks - it could be just boxing", said Nasukawa.

If Mayweather does end up fighting him in an MMA bout, which he has strongly hinted at on Instagram, then it could end very badly for him because Nasukawa clearly isn't in it for fun and games - he's out to make a massive name for himself. His MMA record is also flawless, with four wins, two knockouts, and zero losses to his name. Mayweather has only boxed throughout his career while Nasukawa has fought only as a kickboxer and in mixed martial arts.

"I spoke with my team and with RIZIN and we put it together". "I believe they were here before us".

"As far as the weight class and the rules, we'll talk about that", said Mayweather at the press conference on Sunday night.

The finances of his deal with RIZIN have not now been disclosed.

"Everything is about timing, everything takes time and everything is about timing", he added. It's also all about entertainment. "I just want to entertain".

'It is good to come over to another part of the world, have fun and enjoy each other'. "I would love to continue to work with Rizin because Rizin is an unbelievable company, and my company, we've been making some huge fights happen in the USA, but we look forward to taking the Mayweather Promotions banner and the TMT banner worldwide".

'All that I can think about right now is to become the victor of a big fight that not only all Japanese fans want to see, but all worldwide fans want to see, ' he said to Bleacher Report.

"I'm very happy that this is going to materialise".
