Free shipping can apply to hundreds of millions of items on Amazon, versus hundreds of thousands on Target.

Considering Amazon is already offering Early Black Friday deals every day, this offer could not come at a better time for those who do not have an Amazon Prime Membership.

The U.S. -only promotion, effective from November 5, waives the $25 minimum that customers outside Amazon's Prime loyalty club must hit for free shipping.

· Delivery as Fast as Today: Tens of millions of Prime members can shop with FREE Same-Day Delivery on more than three million items.

Amazon isn't the only merchant slashing shipping fees. Walmart, arguably Amazon's biggest competitor in the USA, has kept its $35 minimum threshold for free shipping for this holiday season (so far, at least).

The credit ratings agency noted that in the fourth quarter of 2017 alone Amazon's shipping costs amounted to $7.4 billion.

About $720 billion in sales are up for grabs for the Black Friday shopping weekend, according to the National Retail Federation.

Amazon Prime members will receive a number of handy benefits during the Black Friday Sale.

Also new for this year, Amazon will be offering Black Friday customers the chance to use Augmented Reality (AR) inside its iOS and Android apps to visualise products to help work out whether a household product will fit - without a tape measure. The spokeswoman said the company expects to announce that cutoff date later, after assessing customer demand and its logistics network. If you're looking to take full advantage of the sales, you really need to ensure you're a Prime member.

Prime Wardrobe will allow customers to have items delivered for "no extra cost", and after customers have tried the fashion products on, they are able to only pay for what they want to keep.
