Chelsea icon Frank Lampard claims Eden Hazard is better than Lionel Messi

As former Chelsea and Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri looked on from the stands, there was a minute's applause before kick-off in tribute to Leicester's late Thai owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, killed in a helicopter crash on Saturday.

Incredibly, this wasn't to be the end of Derby County's bad-luck. That's why he scored so many goals. "I'm sure he'll be up for it and it will be important to get even more indications for us". Jack Marriott slid a fine finish across Willy Caballero and into the far corner to cancel out Tomori's error, the striker benefiting from Tom Huddlestone's strength in dispossessing Cesc Fàbregas and Gary Cahill's untimely slip.

"I respect this club, I don't have to talk about this club. It doesn't feel like a defeat, but it's a benchmark for how we want to play from now on in".

Those around him didn't deal with it so well.

Chelsea reached the League Cup quarter-finals thanks to two own goals in a 3-2 win over second-tier Derby County on Wednesday as Frank Lampard's return to his former club ended in disappointment. "So we didn't have control of the game". Oh so, so close for Derby!

We are predicting that the Blues team to face Derby will be one that is nearly unrecognisable from the one that battered Burnley 4-0 on Sunday.

Lampard gave everything to Chelsea and they gave it back, in recognition of a career that yielded 211 goals in 648 appearances, saw him lift 11 major honours and nearly win the Ballon d'Or, coming second to Ronaldinho back in 2005. It took just five minutes and a woefully misguided swing of Tomori's boot to hammer the message home, as well as set the tone for a wild and at times comically frantic contest.

It was a Lampard-esque goal and Derby's protests were dismissed by Moss. After Tomori's own goal Mason Mount provided a cross for Martyn Waghorn to level, leaving Maurizio Sarri raging again at the state of his defence. "But he was asked to produce moments, and he did". It said much that they had greeted the final whistle with no little relief. They both passed with flying colours.

While remaining a star for South Korea, which he led to a gold medal - thereby earning exemption from military service - at the Asian Games in September, Son is no longer guaranteed a first-team place at Tottenham because of fierce competition up front.

That status belonged to the returning legend, honoured for his past by Stamford Bridge and for his present by the young team whose performance did him such credit.

Similarly, in the dugout, Lampard is in the early stages of a career that could take him to the top once again.
