Down in the guyd you'll find a shiny new dual-core 8th-gen i5 processor with up to 16GB RAM, 1.5TB storage and a battery that will supposedly last up to 13 hours. Macbook Air's ground-breaking, thin design changed the industry, said Tim Cook.

At first glance, the new MacBook Air doesn't look wholly different from its previous iteration.

The new model now gets the same keyboard as the MacBook Pro - 3rd generation - and the trackpad is both larger and doesn't move, again the same as the MacBook Pro offering a haptic experience to give you the impression that something is moving.

MagSafe, which seems to be dead at this point, has been ditched for two USB-C ports, which is a step above the standard MacBook's single USB-C outlet and on par with the 13-inch MacBook Pro that doesn't feature a Touch Bar.

We'll have to see how the new MacBook Air fares in our battery tests with its vastly sharper display.

Apple's NY event on Tuesday saw the launch of the new MacBook Air, which hadn't seen a refresh in design since 2010, with the last spec-bump announced at last year's WWDC.

Tapping into a Mac's microphone is about to get a lot harder for hackers thanks to Apple's new T2 chip. The new iPad Pro 2018 includes 7-core GPU and 8-core CPU and up to 1TGB storage capacity.

It costs $799 in the US.

Enter the newly-redesigned MacBook Air. Apple's pro-level models had adopted an unpopular, finicky keyboard, added a gimmicky touchscreen "Touch Bar" to the MacBook Pro, and raised prices across the board.

Apple is now producing its MacBook Airs from 100 percent recycled aluminum, making it the greenest Mac ever. Welcome to the dongle life, MacBook Air owners, because if you want legacy ports you'll need adapters. This sensor is powered by an Apple T2 chip, which features the familiar secure enclave for securely storing and authenticating fingerprint data.

The new MacBook Air comes with Touch ID so users can instantly access the thin and lightweight laptop. The MagSafe charger from the older MacBook Air is now gone.

This drop in dimensions is largely thanks to the MacBook Air 2018 adopting a fanless Intel Y-series processor.

In terms of availability, we are not sure about the exact release date in Malaysia but at the time that this article is published, the shipping date for MacBook Air is now stated on Apple Malaysia website as between 3 to 17 December. With over 700 Thunderbolt 3 devices in the ecosystem and growing, along with thousands of USB-C devices, MacBook Air allows you to take advantage of a whole new generation of accessories.

The new MacBook Air has a high-resolution Retina display, is a little lighter and has other performance enhancements.

The Air is the only computer in Apple's current line-up that lacks the Retina display now it gets one. The notebook also features a three-mic array for FaceTime calls and voice recognition.

In terms of pricing, things start off with an 8GB RAM, 1.6GHz Core 15, 128GB for $1,199. Weighing in at 2.75 pounds, it's also a quarter pound lighter. That's not an unprecedented price for a MacBook Air: "When the previous 13" model was introduced in 2010, it started at $1299.
