Anti-Semitic and political violence rattle US midterm elections

A surge in donations to Democrats has driven spending on the November 6 election to almost $5 billion across the nation, shattering the record for a congressional midterm, a nonpartisan research group reported Monday.

Political pundits say that the opposition Democrats are all set to regain control of the House, while Republicans will retain control the Senate, where it has a wafer-thin majority of 51-49.

Taking a closer look at who is voting early in some of the most populated counties across Central Florida reveals that Republicans are outvoting Democrats locally as well, according to voter data.

"There's a lot of talk about a Democratic fundraising advantage, and we still clearly haven't learned our lesson that state legislature elections are going to determine the future of not just our party, but our democracy", said Ben Wexler-Waite, communications director for Forward Majority, which works to flip state legislatures blue.

The ad, full of images of economic rebound in leafy suburbs, comes at the start of a hectic week of campaign rallies for Trump but underscores polling showing Republicans' deficit among college-educated women in suburban House districts. Coming off her slashing attacks in the U.S. Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Harris was stumping across Iowa last week as the leading Democrat Presidential hopeful for the 2020 election, according to the Washington Examiner.

Harris and Newsom will later rally in Costa Mesa for Democrat candidate and former Republican Harley Rouda, running in the 48thcongressional district to knock off 11-term Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher.

"I'm proud and humbled to have President Obama, my friend and a true patriot, on the campaign trail here in Florida", Gillum said in a statement.

The memo says Trump has raised $83 million for House candidates running for re-election this year, and that he has campaigned with House candidates in 18 competitive or open seat districts since August 1.

Mr. Trump is expected to do at least 10 rallies in the final stretch before Election Day, doubling up on rallies on many days.
