More than $100 million has now been raised for the U.S. Senate race in Texas. Ted Cruz as the two candidates embark on their last full week of campaigning.

A just-completed Quinnipiac poll showed Cruz, who was just the beneficiary of a campaign appearance by President Donald Trump, leading Democratic Rep. Beto O'Rourke by 51 to 46 percent.

But Cruz maintains a slight advantage, in part to a "gender gap", Brown said: Male voters prefer Cruz over O'Rourke at a 56 percent to 39 percent margin, while female voters prefer O'Rourke over Cruz at just a 52 percent to 45 percent split. "O'Rourke is within striking distance, but time is running out in a race that Democrats have hoped would deliver an upset victory that would be key to a Senate takeover". Early Monday afternoon, it was already clear that Dallas County will break its record for number of votes cast on the eighth day of early voting during a midterm election. Today, O'Rourke leads 56 - 40 percent among independent voters and 96 - 2 percent among Democrats.

Just 3 percent of likely voters contacted by the pollsters remain undecided, reflecting the deeply polarized nature of the electorate and the fact that Cruz is just as appealing to conservatives as O'Rourke is to progressives.

Ted Cruz is still holding on to a lead among likely voters in Texas.

Pollsters called 1,078 self-identified likely voters from Oct.22 through October 28.
