Total domination is complete.

Heading into Sunday night's Game 5, the Los Angeles Dodgers needed a win to stall Boston's chances at this year's title. He started off well: he had three home runs and nine RBIs in the first five of those games, through Game 1 of the NLCS. Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez hit solo shots in the sixth and seventh innings, respectively. He finished the series with four hits in 12 at bats, three home runs and eight RBI.

For Boston, starter David Price was brilliant.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora also joined rarefied air as he won the World Series in his first season as manager. Only the Yankees (27) and Cardinals (11) have been more successful, and Boston is now tied for third with the Athletics. He played 50 games after the trade - he became the first position player to win a World Series MVP while playing 50 or fewer games for the winning team in his career, the Elias Sports Bureau said. He led the Red Sox to their best season in the franchise's 118-year history - and it's near the top of the sport all-time.

Another year, another World Series celebration at Dodgers Stadium by a team that wasn't the Dodgers.

He has now won his last two post-season starts, after leading Boston past Los Angeles in Game 2.

The Dodgers and their fans arrived at Chavez Ravine on Sunday knowing only 13 teams had clawed their way back from 3-1 deficits to win a best-of-seven postseason series. He did everything to put us in a position to win a baseball game. I don't know how many Dodger games he's watched.

Price entered the American League Championship Series against the Astros as the only man among 70 not to record a victory in any of his first 10 career postseason starts.

Having also lost the 2017 final to Houston, the Dodgers' wait for a first World Series since 1988 continues. They will have to decide whether to bring Roberts back, after consecutive failures to break the club's thirty-year streak without a title. After an initial struggle, they clawed up the standings in the National League West, defeating the Colorado Rockies in a tiebreaker game to win the division.

In the World Series, Machado was far from alone in underperforming.

Now, the former SC baseball great is World Series MVP.
