After selling a $1.5 billion winning lottery ticket, SC convenience store owner CJ Patel says he plans to share part of the business' $50,000 bonus with his employees.

The drawing on Saturday is the fourth-largest lotto total ever.

The lump sum cash payout is estimated at $428.6 million.

The town of 22,000, about 14 miles from Greenville, was abuzz as people clamored to learn more about the victor, but in SC, the person who hit the jackpot can opt to remain anonymous.

It comes after one ticket sold in SC matched all six numbers on Tuesday in the United States' other main lottery, the Mega Millions, to win a jackpot of $1.537 billion, just short of a world record.

The last Powerball winning jackpot was August 11.

There were 36 second-tier winners, those who picked five winning numbers but did not match the Mega Ball.

A retired veteran, Raymond Heft of Madison, is the lucky victor of the $1 million Powerball drawing from Wednesday, Oct. 24.

However, none of those players also played the Power Play option which would have increased their winnings to $2 million.

So far, no one has claimed the money, officials said.
