The base Xbox One doesn't fare so well against Sony's PlayStation 4, though.

We'll be talking about Red Dead Redemption 2 for a LONG time, and here's why. Furthermore, draw distances and pop-in shouldn't vary noticeably between consoles.

Released alongside the game itself, Rockstar are publishing a new app for iOS and Android devices that will connect to your PS4 or Xbox One to deliver "real-time interactive information to your smart device". The app is capable of displaying the world map, with options to zoom, set waypoints of mark areas of interest.

Expect our review tomorrow morning! And with the countdown to launch getting closer by the day, it will be interesting to see just how significant of an impact RDR2's Day One patch as on gameplay on the title's first day of availability.

"Environments are equally as lush on all platforms, rendering effects are nearly a complete match, while draw distances and pop-in are just as solid regardless of the machine you play it on", the Eurogamer report concludes. But while Red Dead Redemption 2 fast travel is available, it's not an easy or immediately obvious feature to access, and even then, there's limitations over its use. The best part is that your horse will come with you whenever you fast travel into an area, carrying everything you've stowed in their saddle, but the system ain't ideal.
