Machado fined by Major League Baseball for kicking Aguilar

In an interview with Fox Sports 1 that aired before Game 4, he acknowledged there was "no excuse" for not making more effort - but also displayed an attitude that won't endear him to the old school.

Of course, if Machado were having a awful postseason, it would be easier to make all of the criticism stick, but he leads all postseason hitters with nine RBIs and is tied with three other players for the home run lead (three). Milwaukee promptly won its final seven regular-season games and an NL Central tiebreaker against the Chicago Cubs to earn its first division title since 2011, and the Brewers did more than enough at the plate in a sweep of Colorado in the Division Series. The eight Dodger arms out of the bullpen tossed eight shutout innings, before Cody Bellinger produced a walk-off single, scoring Manny Machado to win the game, 2-1. "The bullpen, what they did tonight against a very good offensive club, my hat's off to these guys".

Gonzalez, the Brewers' starting pitcher in Games 1 and 4 against the Dodgers, suffered a high ankle sprain in his outing at Dodger Stadium on Friday.

"I played right field in the minor leagues a lot before I started playing center field".

The Yankees said the surgery "went as expected", but they didn't provide a timetable.

It was a rough one in Los Angeles on Monday night.

If the Brewers are going to reach the World Series for the first time since 1982, they likely will need a boost from Christian Yelich, who has been among the disappointments in this series.

"Exhausting", Los Angeles outfielder Chris Taylor said. But with runners on second and third, Kershaw struck out Yelich before walking Ryan Braun to load the bases and striking out Jesus Aguilar to end the inning.

Brewers leadoff man Lorenzo Cain went 0-for-6 with three strikeouts and is now 4-for-20 (.200) in the series. He knew that team would lose and they would lose whether or not he ran out a grounder.

Aguilar left his foot on the base for a moment after Machado was already out, and the star shortstop appeared to show his displeasure by bringing his left foot forward and kicking Aguilar on the back of the leg. The way he dragged his foot made it obvious it was intentional, and he was fortunate to not have injured Aguilar.

"It's a dirty play by a dirty player", Yelich said.
