That's why we were thrilled to see that royal photographer and author of Modern Monarchy (out October 16) Chris Jackson shared a couple behind-the-scenes pics of the decadent royal wedding cake on Instagram (see the slideshow above) ahead of the big day.

Who is broadcasting the royal wedding?

Princess Eugenie is set to tie the knot with Jack Brooksbank on Friday and the wedding will be part of a two-day celebration, as the couple will also host a formal lunch and evening reception with a festival-themed party on Saturday.

Mr Brooksbank has asked his brother, Thomas Brooksbank, to be his best man, while Eugenie's older sister Princess Beatrice will be her maid of honour.

The daughter of X Factor judge Robbie Williams, Theodora, will join the young royals in the same role at the wedding.

The venue is where Harry, younger son of heir-to-the-throne Prince Charles, Wednesday US actress Meghan Markle at a glittering ceremony in May and Eugenie is copying some of her cousin's plans for her big day.

They will then take an open-top carriage ride through Windsor, although it will be shorter than the one Harry and Meghan took in May when thousands thronged the streets and hundreds of millions worldwide watched on television. The Queen and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are also expected to attend.

The Archbishop of York wrote a personal prayer for the service but it's the Dean of Windsor who will officiate Eugenie and Jack exchanging vows.

Eugenie is following tradition by not revealing who designed her wedding gown, but she has said it will be a British designer.

The royal family is paying for the wedding, but the anti-monarchist group Republic is lobbying Parliament to prevent any public money from being spent on security or other wedding-related costs.

"Most Brits opposed taxpayer funding of Prince Harry's wedding but as with all royal events were forced to accept it", a spokesman for the group said.

Only a few Halloween face masks feature Eugenie, though some shopkeepers say that will change in the hours ahead of her wedding.
