Mrs Trump landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at around 9pm on her maiden visit to Kenya ahead of her talks with First Lady Margaret Kenyatta on Friday.

Mrs. Trump said she will "never forget" the visit. She approached a crowd of children in royal-blue-and-orange school uniforms who sang in English, "Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome all of you".

Melani then made a stop over in Malawi on Thursday, October 4, where she visited a number of primary schools benefiting from United States assistance and handed over another 1.4 million books through an American funded national reading program.

It was the first lady's second stop on a four-nation tour of the African continent. "We are happy today, we are happy today, we are happy to see you". With just 22 classrooms, many students are forced to take their lessons outdoors, seated shoulder to shoulder in their uniforms on loose, red dirt.

She visited the school to highlight the benefits of a USAID scheme to support African education, which has seen the USA distribute 9.6million books to schools across Malawi. With a smile on her face, the first lady read along with children during their lessons.

During a ceremony at the school, the first lady participated in giving the school 1.4 million books. "I was heartened to spend time with the students and was honored to donate school supplies and soccer balls".

First Lady Melania Trump waves to children at the Chipala Primary School in Lilongwe on October 4, 2018. "It is a lovely thing to see", wrote Trump. They then watched dancers perform three traditional dances, with Malawi's first lady appearing to explain some of the words and movements to Trump.

Among scores of people lining the motorcade route between the school and the ambassador's residence, a few white people held signs.
