Yankees set multiple records in 100th win of 2018

Torres' home run was the 265th by the Yankees this season, breaking the major league record which the Seattle Mariners had held since 1997.

NY tied the record Friday night with four homers in an 11-6 win over the Red Sox.

The Yankees slugger blasted a solo homer over the wall at Fenway Park while visiting the Red Sox, where a fan in a black t-shirt snagged it.

NY became the first team to get at least 20 home runs from all nine spots in the batting order. Majority are tasteless and show little to no class. Yankees star Giancarlo Stanton homered in Saturday's 8-5 win against the Red Sox.

Not only did the Yankees notch 100 wins with a win over Boston this afternoon, they also broke the single-season HR record.

In the 7th, with the Yankees already up 7-2, Giancarlo Stanton made it 266.

Intentional or not, it's no secret Red Sox fans don't like the Yankees and vice versa.

The most important thing that happened on Friday was not the record-tying home runs. The Yankees will host the Athletics on Wednesday for the right to play Boston in the divisional round.

Haap blanked the Sox on one hit over five innings and probably had Sox fans wishing Boston had acquired him instead of Nathan Eovaldi, but Steve Pearce pounded a grand slam off him with two outs in the sixth to make it 8-4.

Lance Lynn (10-10) got the win with three innings of relief, holding Boston to one run on two hits.

"That's the idea when you're an opposing fan, but I don't think that's what he meant to do", Stanton told ESPN's Coley Harvey after the game.

Baseball fans in Boston are undoubtedly some of the most hardcore, devoted, and loyal fans in the world.

Four of the first five Red Sox batters reached base in the first against Yankees starter Luis Cessa, plus an error by Aaron Judge that allowed Betts to score from first on Brock Holt's single. "I think I've surprised some guys in here (the clubhouse) a little bit".

While Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez have grabbed most of the headlines in 2018, Xander Bogaerts has quietly put together a breakout season for the Boston Red Sox.

"In the past couple weeks, what he's been doing for us has been huge", Judge said about Voit.

TOP PERFORMERS: Miguel Andujar has 27 home runs and 90 RBIs this season for the Yankees. Stanton gave a quick salute to the man.

Red Sox: In winning their third straight AL East title and setting a franchise record for wins, the Red Sox improved by 15 victories over their 2017 record.

The night before, Judge walloped a pitch from Boston's Bobby Poyner to tie the record and turn the inevitable into reality. In June, when the team was still struggling, the A's were as high as 250-1 to win the World Series. While the left-hander largely has been dominant this season, his recent starts have left Boston fans a bit anxious about the team's ace.
