Another added: "Look how proud Prince Harry looks of his wife Meghan at the launch of her cookbook!"

The dishes include coconut chicken curry, aubergine masala, caramelized plum upside-down cake and spiced mint tea.

Speaking to the small group in a marquee tent pitched on the grounds of the Palace, the Duchess, who wrote the foreword for the book, gave a three-minute speech where she thanked the women from the community for their warmth and hospitality. And the pair looked as chic as they did happy, with Meghan clad in a royal blue coat by Smythe over a turtleneck bodysuit by TUXE Bodywear and a pleated skirt by her pal Misha Nonoo, while Doria looked elegant as ever in a beige sweater with coordinated pants and a matching scarf draped over her shoulders.

In a speech to her honoured guests, the duchess said the project had been a "tremendous labour of love ..."

"I felt, on a personal level, so proud to live in a city that can have so much diversity".

It's Doria's first public engagement since attending her daughter's wedding on May 19.

Meghan came up with the idea for the book during her first of many visits to the Hubb Community Kitchen in North Kensington, just a couple of miles away from her new palace home.

Los Angeles based Doria, 62, hugged each woman and said: "It's incredible". The Duchess of Sussex stood behind a tabletop grill and helped cook while her mother and husband watched on proudly.

The Hubb Community Kitchen - hubb means love in Arabic - has arisen out of the devastating Grenfell tragedy in 2017. I'm just as excited as you are.

The book launch took place hours after it was revealed the Duchess had knocked both Jamie Oliver and JK Rowling out of the charts - before her book even went on sale.

Guests also included members of the local community, representatives from Ebury Press - publishers of the book - the Al Manaar Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre, where the cooks are based, and the Royal Foundation.

Her daughter also nailed it in the style stakes.

Meghan made her first visit to the kitchen in January, where women had been gathering to make meals after being dislodged by the fire.
