A campaign mailer accusing NY gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon of anti-Semitism was drafted and approved by people connected with incumbent Gov. Andrew Cuomo's campaign team.

On Thursday afternoon, Cardi B publicly endorsed Nixon, urging fans to go out and vote for her via Instagram.

NY was holding primaries for governor and attorney general on Thursday, with polls set to close at 9:00 p.m.

Despite the rhetoric, Cuomo took Nixon seriously, spending $8.5 million, largely on ads, in the final weeks of the campaign to answer her repeated attacks that the governor has not invested enough in New York City's beleaguered subway system and failed to deliver on upstate economic development promises.

The actor and activist also lambasted the governor for pushing for the speedy opening of the new Mario Cuomo Bridge only to have it remain closed out of safety concerns.

With two days to go until New York Democrats head to the polls, Nixon, who has refused corporate donations, knows she's the underdog against a well-known, well-funded, powerful incumbent. The New York Times reported that the Cuomo administration offered incentives for the contractor to finish the job before the primary, and Cuomo's insistence that the state does not control the Tappan Zee contrasts with his self-presentation as an effective and engaged manager. Along with fellow rapper Despot, El-P is an investor in the well-reviewed New York Jewish deli Frankel's, which is helmed by a sibling duo that includes Alex Frankel of the DFA act Holy Ghost!.

Then she sailed into controversy and free column inches of her own - for a bagel order that incensed nearly everyone - the incongruous lox, cream cheese, tomatoes and capers on a cinnamon and raisin bun. I haven't seen the mailer", Cuomo said at an unrelated event in Manhattan."The way I've ran this campaign, it's been on the issues, it's been positive.

Several incumbent Democratic state senators are also facing primary opposition, including a group of legislators who have been targeted for breaking with party leadership and siding with Republicans. Martin Dilan. Salazar's campaign has attracted national press due to inconsistencies in her personal background and allegations of sexual assault she made against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's spokesperson.

Should she pull off the impossible it will be a humiliating blow to a governor said to harbor presidential ambitions, and who served as a cabinet secretary under Bill Clinton at the tender age of 39.

But winning state-wide is tough, especially for a first-timer up against the well-oiled and well-funded machinery of a sitting governor.

"To break through, that requires a lot of money and organization", he told AFP.
