It comes after the shooting deaths of three adults and four children, all from the same family, in Osmington in regional WA in May, and the murder of a mother and her 15-year-old daughter and eight-year-old son at Ellenbrook, in Perth's northeast, in July.

Shortly after giving birth to her first daughter, Mara fell pregnant with twins, and the pair settled at their Bedford home with their children Charlotte, Alice and Beatrix.

THE man accused of murdering five members of a family in Bedford has appeared in Perth Magistrates Court, via video link from Karratha Magistrates Court.

As many as five people died in a home in Australia and a man in his 20s was taken into custody on Sunday morning, police said.

She is believed to have worked in the Pilbara some years ago and land title records show she bought the brick and tile home on Coode Street back in 2008.

"Sadly at that location, police have located the bodies of a number of deceased people including women and children", he said.

Homicide detectives and specialist forensic police will continue to comb the address in the suburb of Bedford for evidence and clues to what happened.

A bouquet of red roses with a card saying "rest in peace, neighbours" has been placed against a light pole near the house.

A neighbour told Ten Eyewitness News the property is home to a couple and their three young children. "So (when they got together) it was like "yay, now she gets to start a family".

Beverly Quinn was the children's maternal grandmother, and mother of Mara.

"Our heart goes out to the family and friends of all involved and also to the first responders who had to witness that terrible situation", he said.

"We noticed that the house next door was pretty quiet, which was unusual, being that they had the young kids", Richard Fairbrother, who lives next door to the family's house, said.

"We have limited resources, we are constantly looking at new ways that we can apply those resources to provide the appropriate level of support", Mr Cook told reporters. "This is a frightful event and it's very upsetting".
