Jermain Defoe: Paul Pogba knows he needs to do more

"Some people need to talk for fear of being forgotten".

" There's a lack of leaders in the team".

Pogba admitted after the surprise defeat that he and his teammates went into the match with the wrong attitude, and were subsequently beaten in their opening away game of the new season.

'Paul Scholes wouldn't recognize a leader if he was in front of Sir Winston Churchill.

"He had another really poor game".

The Frenchman, who returned to United from Juventus for a fee of £89 million (R1.64 billion) in 2016, has had his ups and downs since moving back to England, and there is speculation he could be looking for a way out the club.

A second tweet soon followed, sarcastically suggesting Scholes should become United's first director of football and advise executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to sell the club's record signing. He's so inconsistent. Pogba's playing the ball out of play, he's overhitting passes, he's hitting passes short, he's getting caught in possession'.

Another United icon and fellow Class of 92 graduate Gary Neville did not waste any time in weighing in on Raiola's comments.

The Old Trafford legend slammed the World Cup victor following his performance on Sunday.

"Marcus is obviously an important option to play on the left".

Mourinho stresses that he is happy with Pogba after he captained the side to victory last week after just three days of training following the World Cup.

There has been speculation Raiola has already lined up a move to Barcelona for Pogba after a breakdown in his relationship with United manager Jose Mourinho. Ferguson refused to deal with him again.

He has since brought the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Romelu Lukaku and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to United, thus appearing to have mended the rift.
