The Belgian's agent, Christophe Henrotay, has confirmed his client wants to join the European champions in order to be closer to his children, who live in Madrid.

While no deal is in place, manager Maurizio Sarri did not appear confident on Friday that the Stamford Bridge will be able to retain their No.1, while former Belgium coach Graeme Jones says that a move is "definitely" on the cards.

"I have been reading everywhere that Chelsea are saying it is up to Thibaut, but he has made it clear to the club that the best option for him is to move to Madrid", Henrotay told The Sun.

Spanish giants Real Madrid have reportedly made a £65 million (R1.12 billion) bid for the 29-year-old winger, who is also being closely monitored by United's Jose Mourinho, who is a big admirer of Brazilian.

Sources told ESPN Brasil that the delay was caused by an expired passport, and Chelsea as a club have no immediate concerns about his attitude or commitment in a summer in which Barcelona and Manchester United have both expressed an interest in signing him. "Every club wants to keep their top players and we are trying to do it".

Chelsea have been scrambling around in the market this summer, with goalkeeper one of the many positions the club are looking to bring in players for in the next few days.

"I am not moving, I am happy at Chelsea and living in London.I am very happy living in London", declared the forward.

Brazilian worldwide Willian has failed to return to Chelsea for pre-season with rumours of a move to Real Madrid continuing to swirl.

Chelsea are understandably reluctant to let Courtois leave, particularly if they don't have a suitable replacement for their first choice goalkeeper.

"At the moment Courtois is the goalkeeper of Chelsea", he said.
