The Cubs also gave the young fan a ball used in the game.

But thanks to the social media age we live in, justice was soon done.

The Cubs quickly made up for the highway robbery, giving the kid a ball signed by Javier Baez, so all's well that ends well.

Deadspinwas the first to report the news nationwide.

One person defending the move responding to the tweet, "I like this guy, and he's got a pair of incredible shades on". This guy was great.

However, another fan at the game testified for the fan that took the ball in the first place, saying that this man was acting as some kind of baseball Robin Hood. "TV got this all wrong", wrote Chuck Mycoff, who sat on the man's left. The child missed the ball and it rolled behind him.

Although it is nice that the man was so eager to provide his lady friend with a thoughtful gift, he should have picked a better souvenir to give her than one that he essentially stole from a little boy. Well, according to David Kaplan of NBC Sports Chicago, the man who was vilified had given the boy a baseball earlier in the game.

Kaplan says he spoke to the fan sitting next to the man who got the foul ball.

This Chicago Cubs supporter is one of them. "All is well. The guy is A-OK, so let it go, people." . "The fact of the matter is, he got balls for three kids".

The Cubs got involved after the video went out.
