George Clooney was briefly hospitalized on Tuesday after he was hit by a vehicle while riding his scooter on the Italian island of Sardinia.

George Clooney has reportedly been hospitalised after he was involved in a crash in Italy.

Surveillance video of the crash, apparently taken by a fixed security video, was obtained late Tuesday by the newspaper Corriere della Sera. According to the authorities, Clooney's scooter collided with the auto.

George Clooney was riding a motorbike and slammed into a auto.

The John Paul II hospital in Olbia confirmed Clooney was treated there and released after Tuesday's accident.

According to Carabinieri officer Alberto Cicognani, the driver of the Mercedes hit Clooney after failing to stop at a turn. Local media that had gathered at the hospital said Clooney is believed to have left through a side exit.

"He is recovering at home and will be fine", a representative for Clooney told People.

The actor is in Sardinia filming Catch 22, a TV adaptation of Joseph Heller's book of the same name.

Sardinia, a large Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea, is over 500 miles from Clooney's villa in Lake Como.
