Serie A manager wants to reunite with out of favour Chelsea star

Antonio Conte presided over Chelsea's return for pre-season training on Monday, despite persistent speculation over the Italian's future.

Conte led Chelsea to the Premier League title in his first season in England in 2016-17 and followed up that achievement with the FA Cup triumph this year, but his relationship with the board became damaged beyond fix, highlighted by his repeated public and private complaints about transfer policy.

Sarri remains an employee of Napoli despite the club appointing Carlo Ancelotti as their next boss, with Napoli hoping to agree a compensation fee with Chelsea before releasing him.

Antonio Conte seemed destined to lose his job at Chelsea after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

On several occasions a new manager for the Blues was on the verge of being named with Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri and Luis Enrique both heavily linked with the post.

All that Leeds United can do now is sit and wait patiently, keeping their fingers crossed that if Sarri does become the next Chelsea manager, he will not get involved in the deal involving Blackman to Leeds. "Now it depends on [Sarri] and Chelsea". De Laurentiis has already confirmed that Jorginho is likely to join him at Stamford Bridge, but here are five other Serie A players who he may look to bring with him to Chelsea.

The prolonged uncertainty surrounding Conte and Sarri has had a paralysing effect on Chelsea's transfer plans in a window already complicated by the World Cup and compressed by the Premier League's earlier deadline, set for August 9.

Juventus' recent dominance of the Italian top flight was nearly ended by Sarri's swashbuckling Napoli side last season.

They finished second twice in three campaigns and last season took champions Juve down to the final weeks, only to fall away after a 3-0 collapse at Fiorentina at the end of April.
