The pair shook hands and raised their fists for the cameras, with Miocic standing a few inches taller than his veteran opponent.

The 39-year-old Cormier has never lost to anyone except Jon Jones, and his five-inch height disadvantage against Miocic was no problem.

While Cormier is crossing off items on his limited to-do list before reaching his self-imposed retirement age of 40 next year, Miocic eagerly accepted the matchup for what will be the biggest payday of his UFC career. Everybody wants to see this kind of fight, but nobody ever actually takes the risk and does it.

Stipe Miocic, left, and Daniel Cormier during the UFC 226 ceremonial weigh-in event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Friday, July 6, 2018. After some trash talk from Cormier, the WWE star got on the microphone and cut an expletive filled promo that ended with him saying, "D.C. ..."

"When this is all said and done, I will be remembered as the greatest of all time", Cormier said. "There is a guy I've known a long time: A wrestler, an All-American, a former UFC heavyweight champion". Or if I fight Brock Lesnar I get paid.

The heavyweight champion stands at 6-foot-4 and has an 80-inch reach, while Cormier stands 5-foot-11 with a 72-inch reach.

During his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Cormier called out Lesnar, who was present for the event.

Once they separated, DC started finding home with his hands. Once again, Holloway is unable to battle and this makes three consecutive matches where Holloway has turned up lame.

Conor McGregor held two belts at once in 2016, but those were the 145 lbs. and 155 lbs. titles. White said Lesnar was sacked up to watch the main event. Welterweight Mike Perry also earned a copiously bloody split-decision victory over Paul Felder. Both fighters were covered in Felder's blood by the final bell.

Cormier dismissed the idea of him fighting contenders like Curtis Blaydes, but said he may be convinced to drop back down to light heavyweight to defend his title.

And there was a huge shock in the opening bout of the main card, as former K-1 kickboxing legend Gokhan Saki was stopped in just 96 seconds by Las Vegas light-heavyweight Khalil Rountree Jr.
