But he's released from house arrest at the end of the movie and free to participate in experiments with his girlfriend Hope (Evangeline Lilly as The Wasp), her father Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and her mother Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer), recently saved from the Quantum Realm.

"Ant-Man and The Wasp" takes place before Thanos takes on the Avengers in "Infinity War".

Warning: Massive spoilers are ahead for Ant-Man and the Wasp! It is widely expected that the events of Captain Marvel will tie directly into Avengers 4 and, thanks to the Infinity War post-credits tease, we know the super heroine is on her way.

However, here we are again and the genius of the MCU yet again shines with Ant-Man and the Wasp entertaining with an isolated story that still fits into the bigger picture. The Pyms sent Scott Lang back into the Quantum Realm on a mission of mercy, but while he was gone, the Snap occurred and wiped out the Pym family. That matters because just seconds after Scott successfully makes the jump, he suddenly finds himself out of communication with the team back in the normal sized universe operating the device's control panel.

After having spent 30 years in the Quantum Realm, Janet van Dyne warns Scott not to get trapped in a time vortex before he heads in there. The TV is showing only the "Emergency Broadcast System" signal - probably as a result of the mayhem caused by Thanos. Marvel doesn't just toss away key lines like that for nothing; studio head Kevin Feige meticulously maps out every facet of this shared cinematic universe, leading us to believe that these time vortexes will play a role later on. But since the film is out, numerous questions we've had since the release of Avengers: Infinity War have been answered - especially the one about how Ant-Man connects to Avengers 4.

But hey, the good news is that Scott's ant friend survived Thanos! If they send Scott back to Earth outside of his own time period, it could explain why we've seen leaked photos of the Avengers and Loki circa the Battle of NY.

According to leaked set photos from Avengers 4 and popular theories, it's possible that there will be some time-trickery going on in the highly anticipated sequel. It may even be out of Thanos' reach, or at least his awareness.
