At that time, Barmer Superintendent of Police, Gangdeep Singla had said that the post-mortem reports have no signs of rape and it looks like the family has committed suicide.

Police officer Vineet Kumar said all of them belonged to a family and most had lived in one home in Burari village in the northern part of the capital.

The victims included four men and seven women, including teenagers.

The body of a 70-year-old woman was found lying on the floor of the house, with the others hanging from a railing attached to the ceiling.

According to sources, all were from the same family and owned a grocery shop. There was no sign of forced entry into the house either, police said. He raised an alarm and people then called the police.

"We don't know the reason yet, our team is at the spot and investigating this", said a police official posted in the area, who did not give further details.
