"Police were called... to reports of an explosion and people running at Southgate underground station", said a Metropolitan Police spokesman.

Police say no cause has yet been established.

London Ambulance Service said two people have been hospitalised, and another three were treated at the scene for "minor injuries".

"We will update with more info as we get it".

The Metropolitan Police tweeted: "Officers remain at #Southgate tube station".

There is now no Piccadilly line service between Arnos Grove and Cockfosters.
