Amazon Launches 4K Fire TV Cube With Alexa

Amazon has officially unveiled a new Fire TV device it calls the Fire TV Cube. "Amazon Fire TV Cube will only get better over time with the Alexa service always getting smarter". A whopping eight microphones enable Alexa to hear you "from across the room", while beamforming capabilities will make sure ambient noise, "reverberation, content now playing, and even competing speech" are suppressed for flawless voice command clarity.

Amazon Fire TV Cube is available for pre-order starting today for $119.99 and ships with an IR extender cable and Ethernet adapter beginning on June 21.

Keep in mind that a standard Fire TV costs $69.99, lacking the advanced far-field voice recognition technology and built-in speaker of the 465-gram Cube. Echo Show is also an expertly tuned speaker that can fill any room with immersive audio powered by Dolby.

Amazon engineers have been promoting the development of foreign language applications with the release past year of Cleo Alexa, a skill whose primary goal is helping Alexa understand different languages and dialects.

Similar to Amazon's existing Fire streaming sticks, the Cube supports popular video apps, such as Netflix and Hulu. This enables users to do things like switching between TV boxes and consoles, searching for shows and controlling the volume. Even with the TV off, simply say "Alexa, play Billions on SHOWTIME" and Fire TV Cube powers on your TV and starts playback right where you left off. Amazon has confirmed that the Echo Spot will be available from next month.

And then there's the third thing: the Fire TV Cube triples as a universal remote. Another plus: since it's created to hook up to a TV, users can easily control and view smart camera feeds.

According to Amazon, Cube is compatible with set-top boxes from top providers such as Comcast, Dish, and DirecTV, covering more than 90% of households with a cable or satellite subscription.

Amazon's small new cube-shaped device sort of marries an Amazon Echo speaker with one of the company's Fire TV set-top devices. As an introductory offer, Prime members can order on June 7 and 8 for a special price of $89.99a $30 savings.
