Manchester United agree deal to sign Brazil midfielder Fred

But before he links up with the rest of the squad later this summer, United fans will be able to catch a first glimpse of Fred in action for Brazil at the World Cup.

With United aiming to close the gap with arch-rivals and Premier League champions Manchester City, Jose Mourinho has acted fast by bringing in the talented 25-year-old.

Now he knows he'll be playing in the Premier League next season, Fred will jet off to Russian Federation and join up with his Brazil teammates as they prepare for the 2018 World Cup.

United fans are unlikely to get much of a glimpse of Fred at the World Cup in Russian Federation, though, as he is yet to start an global under current coach Tite. He has made 156 appearances over five seasons with Shakhtar, the Ukrainian Premier League champions, scoring 14 goals.

Fred made his worldwide debut for Brazil in 2014 under Dunga and was called up for the 2015 Copa America following an injury to defensive midfielder Luiz Gustavo.

He leads Switzerland into his third World Cup next week.
