Melania Trump, 48, was missing on Friday when the Trump family - Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Tiffany Trump - joined the president on his trip to Camp David.

Melania was last seen on May 10 when she stood by the President and welcomed home three American detainees from North Korea.

Four days later, the White House announced that she had been hospitalized to treat a kidney condition described only as benign.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from TheWrap. As the global media couldn't stop speculating about her whereabouts, she took to Twitter to quash rumours about her health and marriage.

Trump is scheduled to leave for his presidential retreat in Maryland, while Melania will remain at the White House over the weekend.

The first lady's public absence and lack of photos of her working at the White House as she claims has led to multiple conspiracy theories.

She addressed them on Wednesday, tweeting: "I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I'm doing".

The past three weeks the world has been asunder with the question: where is Melania Trump and what is she doing?!

"We are focused on her initiatives, and also some longer-term planning for events such as the congressional picnic and 4th of July", spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham told media outlets.

Mrs. Trump's decision not to go to Quebec is a departure from a year ago, when she made an global summit debut at the G7 meeting in Italy and followed up at the forum of G20 industrialized and developing nations in Germany. Some noted the similarity to Trump's voice, while others noted the fact that anyone could easily tweet from her account.

This all comes just after Mrs. Trump's most high-profile period as First Lady.

According to CNN, Grisham again stated on Friday that Melania "is fine, she's doing great".
