Ambien is a treatment used for insomnia.

"Wow! Unreal", Barr wrote in response, adding, "I understand her position and why she said what she said". She explained that it was 2am when she wrote the tweet, "and I was ambien tweeting".

The network's decision comes after Roseanne Barr went on a Twitter tirade on Tuesday morning (May 29).

Later, Barr denied that she was putting the blame on Ambien, saying it was "just an explanation not an excuse".

Barr has been tweeting for some 10 hours now and doesn't seem to show any sign of stopping.

Embattled comedian Roseanne Barr blamed Ambien use for her racist tweet on Tuesday, in which she compared Valerie Jarrett, a former adviser to President Barack Obama, to an ape. She called it "abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values".

The guest also said that Barr's remark was in fact "disgusting" but refused to acknowledge that the tweet implied any racial context. "Our government is only going to be as good as we make it". The initial tweet outraged fans and as well as her own castmates.

Gilbert was then forgiven soon after by Roseanne, who tweeted: 'no, I understand her position and why she said what she said. i forgive her.

Viacom-owned TV Land, where Roseanne marathons were a weekend staple, Paramount Television and CMT, were joined by Hulu and digital giant Laff in pulling the shows from their catalogs.

"Our goal was to promote constructive discussion about the issues that divide us", said Tom Werner.

"As you know, [he] has been extremely focused... on with the upcoming summit", White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters "And the President is focused on North Korea... trade deals... rebuilding our military, the economy".

Barr had earlier apologized to members of the cast and crew, but the tweet was deleted. Barr regularly attacks liberals on Twitter and peddles fringe conspiracy theories.

Michael Fishman, who played D.J. Conner on the show, also called Barr's tweet "reprehensible and intolerable", saying he was "devastated, not for the end of the Roseanne show, but for all those who poured their hearts and souls into our jobs, and the audience that welcomed us into their homes".
