Sentiments and godfatherism in choosing Nigeria's final 23 players for the 2018 World Cup "is going to kill the team", warns ex-international Taju Disu.

Okala said that he personally saw the provisional list as a good list "with lots of hope in it". "Go there with the best legs and make sure they represent Nigeria well".

"That's the advise I'd offer Rohr, because I know there'd be some players, imposed on him by some so-called godfathers".

Okala, who is the longest goalkeeper for Nigeria, however, said that he was happy for the new entrants into the squad - Junior Lokosa and Simeon Nwankwo.

Ambrose Efe of Hibernian, Al Ahly's Junior Ajayi and goalkeeper Austin Ejide ought to have made the list, the former Super Eagles star was quoted to have said by a Complete Sports journalist. I have been giving my best in each day for any team I play for because I believe that's what we make me a better person and that has got me to where I am now.

"I pray he joins other great and wonderful players in the team to make Nigerians proud, " he added.

He has praised Rohr over the 30-man provisional World Cup roster released on Monday and tipped the Super Eagles to go far at the tournament in Russian Federation.

Gernot Rohr has stuck with the quartet of Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Dele Ajiboye, Daniel Akpeyi and youngster Francis Uzoho in the goalkeeping department.

Leon Balogun, William Troost- Ekong, Kenneth Omeruo, Brian Idowu and Elderson Echejile, Shehu Abdulahi, Ola Aina, Tyrone Ebuehi, Stephen Eze and Chidozie Awaziem.

The Midfielders include Mikel Obi (Captain), Joel Obi, Ogenyi Onazi, Mikel Agu, Etebo Oghenekaro, John Ogu, Uche Ago and Wilfred Ndidi.
