Rain is expected to continue throughout the weekend, into Sunday.

Floodwaters covered a baseball diamond on 6 Mile Road, according to the Weather Service.

The weather service also said emergency management officials reported multiple water rescues around the area before 9 p.m., when flash flooding already started.

New rainfall totals will range from one to three inches which may lead to flooding of low lying areas and along streams and rivers. Some drivers ignored the warnings and drove through the water anyways. Because the soil is already saturated and streams are already swollen that means flooding is likely nearly any day, with some potential for significant river flooding late in the week through the weekend.

Minor flooding is occurring on the Similkameen River near Nighthawk, and major flooding is forecast for later in the week.

The flood stage may be reached by early Tuesday afternoon.
