According to findings by Strategy Analytics, iPhone X is the world's best-selling smartphone in Q1 2018.

The iPhone X had a market share of 16.0% of the 345.4 million units shipped.

"Apple has now shifted nearly 50 million iPhone X units worldwide since commercial launch in November 2017", Juha Winter, Senior Analyst at Strategy Analytics, said.

Apple Pops on Strong Earnings

It wasn't the only victor, either.

In comparison, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, which were launched alongside the iPhone X, sold 12.5 million units and 8.3 million units respectively. The previous-generation iPhone 7 shipped a respectable 5.6 million units for fourth place.

Despite rumours of an underperforming iPhone X in the quarter, Apple stated that the iPhone X was the most popular model each week in the March quarter. Boosted by the expensive iPhone X, Apple fetched an average of $728 per iPhone in this year's quarter, an 11 percent gain from last year's average of $655. Note, record iPhone sales X for the first quarter of 2018 amounted to more than 16 million of these devices. In February this year, Apple reported a $20 billion profit in the quarter that ended on December 30, 2017.

The good news is that Apple might be trying to do something about that, giving you more power in less time. and without having to spend money on a new accessory. In addition, the notch, first seen in the iPhone X, would give the phone FaceID capabilities.

Investors have watched Apple closely in recent weeks as a string of poor forecasts from the smartphone supply chain signalled that iPhone demand may be lower than previously expected.

These prediction seem to be backing the optimism Apple CEO Tim Cook displayed on iPhone while announcing the quarterly earnings report earlier this week.

That's unless Apple finds a way to fast charge using the Lightning cable, but that would need to be upgraded to allow more power through, and that would mean users would need to go out and buy an "old" Lightning cable to connect their iPhone to a computer or more standard charging USB outlet. Strategy Analytics named the iPhone X leader of the pack in their latest analysis of the global smartphone market. According to Strategy Analysis, Samsung's Galaxy S9 sells would grow up and the phone could achieve the first position in the next quarter.

Strategy Analytics said Samsung's Galaxy S9 Plus will become the best-selling Android smartphone globally in the second quarter of 2018.

It is a mind-boggling statistic that the top five best selling smartphones were from the same company, Apple.
