Although Juve were poor in the second period, a Milan Skriniar own goal drew the defending champions level with three minutes to go before Gonzalo Higuain nodded in a Paulo Dybala cross to earn a dramatic victory.

Inter, chasing a top-four finish that would qualify them for the Champions League group stage, stayed fifth.

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri believes his side's stunning late win at Inter Milan could be a decisive result in the Serie A title race after their opponents "crumbled physically".

Inter were in more trouble when midfielder Matias Vecino was dismissed five minutes later, the referee initially showing a yellow card for his tackle on Mario Mandzukic before changing to red after consulting the video assistant referee (VAR).

Mauro Icardi headed in the equaliser for Inter seven minutes after the break for his 27th goal this season, and the hosts took the lead when the ball bounced in off Juventus defender Andrea Barzagli.

Higuain had been guilty of missing a fantastic chance with the score at 1-1, but the former Napoli striker significantly dented the Partenopei's title hopes with an 89th-minute header to spark wild celebrations and ensure the Scudetto, somewhat improbably, remains in Juve's hands.

"It was a great evening of football between two teams who faced each other openly", said Allegri.

"We didn't stop close to the "Curva" [a section of the stadium] because we were very disappointed and we didn't realize".

Roma warmed up for their Champions League second leg with Liverpool by hammering Chievo 4-1.

'It's important for us to have you here, ' Buffon, who has denied reports of a post-match bust-up with centre back Medhi Benatia, told supporters, according to Corriere della Sera.

Inglese headed in a late consolation goal for Chievo, but they remain two points above the drop zone.
