Police are investigating after a second grader in Minnesota brought a knife to school and cut three students, according to WCCO.

The incident lasted about 5 minutes and took place in a school hallway.

Superintendent Bruce Watkins wouldn't say how old the child was that brought the knife, only that he is a student at Pleasantview. "We're not sure exactly why he came to school with a knife", Chief Perry Beise said.

Gymnasium is the Danish term referring to a three-year upper secondary school education programme which qualifies students for admission to university. Police, ambulance and parents were called and responded.

Nikolas Cruz, 19, a former student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, where he allegedly killed 17 people, is seen on a closed circuit television screen during a bond hearing in front of Broward Judge Kim Mollica at the Broward County Courthouse on February 15, 2018 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Mental health professionals are available on site at Pleasantview Elementary. Two of the students were cut in the back of the head and required stitches. He said the student pulled the knife from his backpack in the hallway before school started, and added that staff and students traumatized by the incident will be able to speak with mental health workers if needed. There are approximately 790 students enrolled at the elementary school.
