Jets, Wild cap Game 2 with fisticuffs

"People are so connected now with teams, with each other, whether it's negative or positive people are always talking about their sports teams", he said.

615 games with Detroit and Tampa Bay. The bad news? The Lightning got scoring from up and down the lineup in a 5-2 victory.

Two nights earlier, in Game 1 between Wheeler's Winnipeg Jets and the Minnesota Wild, he thought there had been too much excitement, too many nerves, too much testosterone trying to establish dominance. Obviously, the building was pretty electric and there's a lot to take out of that game. Can the Maple Leafs bounce back?

"I get nervous once a year, and whether I'm playing or not, it's this time of the year because it's playoff time", Walz said. "When you're the favorite, everybody expects you to be flawless, and everybody expects you to win in four (games)".

With the Golden Knights now two games into their first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League's Stanley Cup playoffs, head coach Gerard (Turk) Gallant says it's business as usual for the expansion franchise.

That doesn't mean the Wild are backing down from the challenge, a point Boudreau hammered home as sarcastically as possible in the hours leading up to Game 1 on Wednesday, April 11, at Bell MTS Place. This is the same team that lost 10 in a row (0-5-5) from November 11-Dec.

The Jets won 19 playoff games during their first time in the National Hockey League. The Flyers know about adversity, about falling and picking themselves up. "The fans are on the edge of their seats, they are cheering the whole time".

The Jets posted an NHL-best 32-7-2 home record during the regular season. The goal came on the power play after Jets forward Brandon Tanev was called for hooking with 59 seconds left. "When he shoots the puck, every chance, it's got a chance to go in". It wouldn't be a topic if Crosby buried his chance, but he didn't.

Paul Stastny, Andrew Copp and Patrik Laine scored in the third period for Winnipeg. The Jets have used quickness and a relentless forecheck while rolling four lines to outshoot Minnesota by a combined 84-37 in the first two games of the series.

"We just go back home and know that we're a real good home team and make sure that we get the next one for sure", said Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk, who made 40 saves in Minnesota's 4-1 loss Friday and 77 saves total through the first two games.

The Minnesota Wild are hoping a change of scenery will jolt them back into their first-round playoff series.

The puck drops on Game 2 of the Western Conference quarterfinal on Friday night in Winnipeg. The old Jets, who are now the Coyotes, won plenty, but all the playoff history this Winnipeg organization had since moving from Atlanta to Manitoba in 2011 was a four-game sweep at the hands of the Ducks in 2015. The stars on the Kings must generate more offense. The puck stayed out of the net, however, and Elliott quickly steadied.

Yeah, they lost 62% of the faceoffs, but in a game like that, which was so one-sided, who cares. When the Wild are playing well they are generating offense off the shot. If they keep using them, they can keep winning. Eriksson Ek was one of the Wild's top forwards in game one and has been an integral part of the teams strong play down the stretch.
