Uber has announced a new service similar to Airbnb, but for vehicles. The settlement also required Uber to implement a comprehensive privacy program that protected the personal information the company collected.

That's why we're today launching Uber Movement in Toronto - a free tool which uses Uber's anonymised data from millions of trips to help urban planners make decisions about their city. Uber will start doing annual criminal background checks on USA drivers and hire a company that constantly monitors criminal arrests as it tries to do a better job of keeping riders safe. "Uber paved the way for a new paradigm in urban mobility, and we're tremendously excited to power seamless connectivity between Uber's options and public transit, reducing the number of cars on the road and enabling more on-demand transportation".

The company also announced Wednesday that it will partner with car-sharing app Getaround to offer auto rentals for riders and drivers. "That is the package that we think is the most fair - that hits property owners, it hits visitors, it hits residents and it hits the ride-sharing services - that we think is best for the city".

"Definitely the driver when you're alone as a girl I mean sometimes they try to hit on you and they say things that don't make you feel uncomfortable", said Bren Lopez. They are collaborating with the well-recognized London-based mobile ticketing company Masabi. Right from booking your ride to reaching your destination, Uber has launched a spree of safety features which can give its riders a safe and smooth experience.

Uber announced Wednesday that it would be partnering with Masabi, a software company that works with transit companies, to integrate transit planning and fare payment in the Uber app. Uber's Khanna cautioned that the process was still in its early stages.

But in heralding the company's partnership with the city, Khosrowshahi also used the opportunity to subtly criticise Bowser's proposal to tax ride-hail companies, including Uber, to raise money for the city's share of the Metro funding package.

Moovel, for example, is a subsidiary of Daimler that is already integrating transit fare payment, bike sharing and vehicle sharing (Daimler also owns the car-sharing service car2go.) The Transit app allows travelers in 125 cities to plan trips using buses, subway, bikeshare (docked and dockless), carsharing and Uber. This lets users connect to the nearby 911 centers. "Cars are shared by people throughout the city and equipped with Getaround's technology for instant access". This integration shares trips, locations and other information to 911.
