Roma knock Barca out of UCL with stunning comeback; Liverpool into semis

The Spanish giants took a 4-1 lead into their second leg but they were completely outplayed in Rome, as the hosts won 3-0 to make the score 4-4 on aggregate and progress on away goals.

Roma started the second half as they started the first and got their reward in the 58th minute when Edin Dzeko was chopped down by Gerard Pique and De Rossi slotted home the spot-kick.

But while that didn't happen, in Rome there sensational scenes as the Serie A side became only the third team in Champions League history to overturn a first-leg defeat of three goals or more, following in the famous footsteps of Deportivo La Coruna (against AC Milan in 2004) and Barcelona (against Paris Saint-Germain in 2017).

Current mood in Barcelona.

Jurgen Klopp has beaten Pep Guardiola more times than any other manager, with Tuesday's 2-1 second-leg win taking the tally to seven victories from 13 meetings.

Roma pulled off the impossible on Wednesday night. "We all wanted to win the competition but only one can win", Valverde added.

Manolas, a center back known more for his defensive skills then his attacking abilities, had just scored one of the most memorable goals in Roma's history.

Manchester City and Barcelona are all but certain to wrap up comfortable league titles in England and Spain this season, but both were unceremoniously dumped out of Europe.

Pallotta, a Boston executive who was part of the four-man American team that purchased Roma in 2011, is also a minority owner of the Boston Celtics.

Most of the fans who spoke to said they were "excited about Barcelona's elimination", whiles a group of fans were dumbfounded after they discovered that the Catalans lost to the Romans.

Now Salah's 39-goal haul this season is on a par with Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.

"The truth is that I made this choice to create more width, allow more counter-attacks and bring rapidity, but what really changed was the philosophy of the side and we have to continue like this now". Fifteen minutes afterward I went outside and they're still singing.

Bernado Silva hit the post, and Leroy Sane had a goal incorrectly ruled out for offside during the game, but Liverpool fully deserved to move into the semi-final stage of the Champions league.

"I don't want a side that rests on its laurels or thinks it doesn't matter how the game goes".

While opponents have failed to hurt either team domestically, they have found life tougher in the Champions League.
