Bill Cosby's spokesman is calling for increased security after a topless protester hopped a barricade and got close to the 80-year-old comedian as he walked into a suburban Philadelphia courthouse for his sexual assault retrial.

Mr Cosby's defence will call at least three witnesses, including Marguerite Jackson, a Temple University academic adviser who says that Ms Constand, who worked with the women's basketball team, once told her she could make money by falsely claiming that she had been molested by someone famous. The jury in the comedian's first trial was selected from outside of Pittsburgh over concerns that Cosby's hometown notoriety could unfairly prejudice the jurors.

Cosby's lawyers say her memories are tainted at best.

His first trial, in June 2017, ended when the jury failed to reach a verdict.

According to Fox News, the District Attorney's office have now identified the protester as Nicolle Rochelle, 39, of Little Falls, New Jersey.

Cosby's lawyers produced documents referencing the criminal past of another, Chelan Lasha.

Cosby, who was arriving at court for his sexual assault retrial, was not affected by the woman's actions. Their opening statements are expected Tuesday morning. "We believe this woman who is talking and telling her truth, and I want her to be raised to always have a voice and to know that I believe her when she tells me anything that happens".

Cosby did not take the stand at the first trial and is unlikely to do so this time.

Cosby, who has been accused of rape and assault by around 60 women, was originally tried a year ago for drugging and assaulting Andrea Constand at his home in 2004.

Nicolle Rochelle - who appeared in a recurring role on The Cosby Show - had painted "Cosby rapist" and various women's names on her body and chanted near the comedian.

Judge Steven T. O'Neill of the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas met privately with both sides to discuss a defense contention that one juror had told another prospective juror last week that he thought Cosby was guilty. The retrial is likely to last as long as a month.

Femen was born from a 2008 pajama party in Ukraine, where a group of young feminists chose to use sexuality to protest Ukrainian women being trafficked for sex and other women's issues.

Nicolle Rochelle, 39, wore only black trousers when she jumped a barricade and ran toward a bank of TV cameras near Cosby, chanting, "Hey, hey, hey, women's lives matter". The judge barred her at the first trial. "In honor of the first day of the Bill Cosby retrial, I went by the address where they filmed The Cosby Show exterior in New York City..."

Steele also showed a photo of pink pills that he said Cosby presented to law enforcement in 2005 when he was interviewed about Constand's allegations.

Although parts of that settlement have been made public - including Cosby's admission that he got prescription sedatives to give to women he wanted to have sex with - the price tag of that agreement had remained a secret.

Cosby, meanwhile, has retained a new legal team led by Tom Mesereau, the high-profile Los Angeles lawyer who defended Michael Jackson against child molestation accusations in a 2005 trial.

Rochelle has been outspoken about the allegations against Cosby, who's been accused by at least 60 women of drugging and sexually assaulting them.
