Some school districts closed for the day and others opted for a delayed opening.

After snow fell in the Bronx earlier today, the New York Yankees made a decision to push back their home opener just one day.

NY has been hit by a series of snowstorms in the last month and the latest came on 2 April with the city waking up to several inches of snow on Monday morning. Many schools are already closed for spring break in some of the areas hit by the winter weather, but the snowfall caused additional districts to cancel or delay Monday's classes.

Aaron Boone woke up before heading to the ballpark for his first home opener as New York Yankees manager and peeked outside the window.

LaGuardia, Kennedy and Newark Liberty airports all reported some flight disruptions.

New York's opener against Houston at Yankee Stadium two years ago was postponed because of a forecast of bad weather and rescheduled for the following day. The game will be played on Tuesday at 4:05 p.m so there will be no need to move the game months down the line or have to play a doubleheader so early in the season. "We're supposed to have April showers, not snow".
