Microsoft Reorganizes: Puts Focus On Cloud, AI

Microsoft Corporation (Nasdaq:MSFT) announced today that Terry Myerson, the Executive Vice President of the company's Windows and Devices Group, will be leaving the company.

Telemetry data from Microsoft shows that 48% of Windows 10 PCs are still running it, while only 39% are running on Windows 7. The Cortana Show Me is available as an app from the Microsoft Store, and it basically offers instructions on uninstalling apps, using Windows Defender and much more.

With only a few months left to the third anniversary of Windows 10 later in July this year, we wait to see whether the number will increase, but it is highly unlikely to hit the projected one billion mark. Windows technology, analysts said, will increasingly be folded into Microsoft's cloud software.

Nadella also thanked Myerson for his contribution to Microsoft and Windows. Rajesh Jha, head of the product group, will lead the experiences and devices group.

That move, said Patrick Moorhead, an independent analyst, is Microsoft's effort to show it is "serious about the broader implications of A.I." at a time of rising concern about the technology's influence on people's behavior and as a threat to jobs. Our tipster says they and others who have installed the latest versions of Windows and Nvidia drivers continue to see the performance of their games lagging behind what they had before those updates. Putting those teams, which face fierce competition from the likes of Amazon (amzn), Google (googl), and Apple (aapl), together with Azure could help them catch on as cloud services. The Windows devices team combines with Office software, with the goal of building laptops and tablets that appeal to users of Microsoft's applications, including its Word and Excel programs and newer tools like email and Skype. The executive is the newly appointed head of the company's Azure public cloud. He will be the key leader ensuring end-to-end devices business execution excellence. "Some of the AI groups were rolled into product groups indicating to me that AI is becoming more real and is a broader part of products, and not just research". He was responsible for supervising the company's products including Windows, Surface, Xbox, Windows Server and HoloLens Mixed Reality.
