"Sex & the City'"s Cynthia Nixon running for governor of NY"

Nixon's entry sets up a September primary for the Democratic party's nomination.

On her campaign website, Nixon described herself as a "progressive fighter" who has focused on "LGBTQ equality, women's rights, and better public schools". And, it's a good thing the SATC3 movie is dead in the ground, because we doubt she would've been able to juggle filming AND a gubernatorial campaign.

"They'll be people who run".

Nixon has always been critical of Cuomo, who she called a "centrist and Albany insider" in a statement on Monday.

Nixon enters a Democratic field that also includes Cuomo and former state senator Terry Gipson, of Rhinebeck, N.Y. According to The New York Times, his name was mentioned 163 times during the eight-week federal trial. "I've never lived anywhere else".

Nixon has been an activist for educational causes in NY for years.

"Half the kids in our upstate cities live below the poverty line". "Our leaders are letting us down", the 51-year-old revealed in the clip.

"Governor Cuomo wants to eliminate New York's obligation to provide schools statewide with $4.3 billion in additional funding, including almost $287 million for schools in Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam counties", she said. Her bid comes as the Democratic Party looks to reconcile divides among its liberal and more moderate wings, a breach that has its roots in the 2016 election.

She continued: "I love NY".

Nixon has been an outspoken critic of Cuomo and his administration.

In that race four years ago, Cuomo refused to debate Teachout.

"This is a time to be visible", Nixon said in the YouTube video distributed Monday that confirmed her campaign, the subject of rumors for weeks.

Her face has always been associated with New York City - and now actress Cynthia Nixon wants to be the face of the state.

Since winning reelection in 2014, Cuomo has hewed a bit to the left.

"What moves people in campaigns, is when you put money behind it, and you're all over radio and TV, and you're on the blogs", said Greenberg.

She'll be up against incumbent Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, who has served two terms, in the upcoming Democratic primary.
