Chaos at Brisbane Airport After "Screening Matter"

The airport is now experiencing technical issues at security and check-in desks, causing major interruptions to outbound flights.

"Our teams are working to get everyone to their destinations as soon as possible", a spokesman told AAP.

The problem is preventing passengers from being processed through security causing huge queues to form throughout the affected terminals.

The T3 Qantas Domestic terminal is apparently not affected.

A spokesman from Jetstar told Daily Mail Australia they are still facing delays of an hour on average, almost five hours after the issue was resolved.

We are proactively communicating with those impacted and we encourage passengers to check the flight status page on our website'.

Passengers are being urged to avoid these terminals as the airport staff work to resolve the issue.

Passengers at Sydney Airport have faced major delays after a "technical" issues halted security.

"There may be some delays as a result, however guests are advised to arrive at the airport as planned for their upcoming Virgin Australia flight", it posted on Twitter.

Many passengers have taken to social media to share their frustration.

A spokeswoman for Brisbane Airport told the Courier Mail security screens were closed for 30 minutes after the breach.

It affected systems including the airport's CCTV, meaning passengers could not be screened for about two hours.
