Alec Baldwin Talks Gun Control as Trump in SNL Cold Open

Alec Baldwin reprised his impression of President Donald Trump in Saturday's Saturday Night Live cold open.

President Donald Trump took a break from dealing with the turmoil in his administration to lash out once again at actor Alec Baldwin in an early-morning Twitter rant. My mentals are so high, but we have to respect the law.

In response to Baldwin noting that playing the president is agony, Trump tweeted: "Alec Baldwin, whose dying mediocre career was saved by his awful impersonation of me on SNL, now says playing me was agony. I have so much mentals", Baldwin's Trump said.

The sketch mocked Trump's shifting positions on gun control, Jared Kushner's business ties, and the resignation of White House communications chief Hope Hicks. If I could I would run into all of them, even without a weapon, I'd burst through the doors and I'd be running so fast-I'm actually a very fast runner, people don't know that-I'd be running so fast, the guy with the gun wouldn't even know what hit him.

"I guess you could say that I am a living barometer of when Alec Baldwin is getting into trouble", Baldwin joked "I'm just used to it at this point". So the schools would be safe now but I wouldn't stop there. "China, Japan, Wakanda", said the SNL version, dropping a reference to Black Panther. "They got flying cars in Wakanda". You know. The Good Stuff. "And I care'" - which the audience laughed at, naturally.

"Saturday Night Live" airs live coast-to-coast Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. PT on NBC. "That business is a waffle house at 2 am - crazies everywhere, staff walking out in the middle of their shift, managers taking money out of the register to pay the Russian mob - but maybe we do just take all the guns away".
