Speaking to insider sources, Cheddar reports that Spectacles 2.0 will launch later this year, with Spectacles 3.0 coming in 2019 and bringing with it two cameras rather than one.

These Snapchat Spectacles originally released back in 2016, and while they were originally flying off the shelves and hard to get your hands on due to scarcity, it turned out that the spectacles failed to impress with a lackluster retail launch.

Although Snapchat has faced some loss, but the company is still working on its new spectacles.

Snap has prototyped an aluminium design with more circular lens frames and two cameras that would allow for 3D-like depth effects in videos, the report states.

Snap Inc. really wants to make its "Spectacles" a thing.

It'll come with performance improvements and be available in new colours.

Snap did not immediately respond to PCMag's request for comment about the report.

Additionally, the giant is reportedly working on the third edition of the Spectacles as well. Heath also reported that Snap quietly acquired imaging company FiveFocal. However, the giant seems to be unstoppable as they have already planned to redesign the sunglasses with two more versions of it which would be much more powerful than the first version.

Apparently, Snap is in talks with major glasses companies including Luxottica and Warby Parker to help the giant developing the cameras of the new generation of the spectacles.
