Holi 2018: Google Doodle celebrates India's Festival of Colour

Revellers across the state banked on herbal and organic colours to enjoy Holi with no worries for skin damage or any other allergies.

Why is Holi called the Festival of Colour?

Also known as "Dola Purnima" or "Basant Utsav" in Odisha, Holi is one of the major festivals celebrated across the country.

Holi is an annual festival celebrated in the Indian subcontinent.

The Radha Krishna Temple will host a free Holi Festival from noon to 5 p.m. March 17 at 3921 Martin Luther King Jr. Delhi Police said it had made proper arrangements in case of any hooliganism during the celebrations, requesting the people to obey rules for safe celebration and stay away from drunken driving.

In Gujarat, school children have fun playing in water and powder. Holi marks the beginning of spring season and arrives at a time when the agricultural fields are on pace for a better harvest. The scene depicts the classic Holi traditions of family and friends coming together to laugh, dance, and feast.

The Prime Minister also wished everyone "happy Holi".

In his message, he exhorted the people to celebrate the festival of love in a spirit of harmony, coupled with collective prayers for prosperity.

Hence - Holi is the celebration of good conquering evil.

"Heartiest greetings to all on the auspicious occasion of Holi".

Priyanka Chopra, who is now busy shooting for her series Quantico, took to Instagram and wrote, "Acting is a matter of giving away secrets- Ellen Barkin #adayatwork@abcquantico happy Holi to everyone celebrating".

"Happy Holi. the colours of life be within you ever", wrote Bollywood's Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan. Abhishek Bachchan who is now shooting for Anurag Kashyap's Manmarziyan with Vicky Kaushal and Taapsee Pannu was not present.
