Samsung officially took the wraps off its Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus during an on-stage "Unpacked" event at the Mobile World Congress, which runs today through March 1. In fact, were it not for the new fingerprint reader placement - now below the rear camera and in the centre of the phone, instead of off-centre, a placement many found annoying on the 2017 handsets - most people would not be able to tell the difference between them at first glance.

Samsung took the wraps off its Galaxy S9 line on Monday, answering headline features of chief rival Apple's iPhone X, while positioning its camera as the industry's best. The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are already available for pre-booking via Samsung's online retail store, although it makes no mention of price specifics.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 plus will also appear with a unique AR Emoji feature which is Samsung's AR Animoji.

The smartphone highlights a 5.8-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display working at a resolution of 1440x2960pixel with a pixel density of 570ppi, and an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. Of course the S9 and S9+ run on the latest mobile processors (that would be Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 in the United States and China; and Exynos 9810 for the rest of the world) and the S9+ phone has had its RAM (temporary memory) bumped up to 6GB. With the Galaxy S9 Plus coming on the market, is there still a reason to purchase the Galaxy Note 8? The front camera on both phones is 8MP with f/1.7 aperture. In the low light mode, the phone switches to the wider f/1.5 aperture while in the normal mode, the camera has a much narrower f/2.4 aperture. We got a change to experience it in their "Experience Zone" after the show, and it's a mighty fine piece of hardware.

"The result is photos with far less noise than anything we've seen on a smartphone, " he wrote.

The OnePlus 5T is sold in two versions in India for the following prices. Unlike the Galaxy S9, the OnePlus 5T does not feature any form of IP certification for water and dust resistance. However, the Galaxy S9+ will ship with a 6.2-inch QuadHD+ sAMOLED display. There are some minor changes on the back, most notably the dual-lens camera configuration that you'll find on the S9+.

Personally, what I think is infinitely more useful is the ability to record 4K video at 60fps. We also get a 3,000 mAh battery on the S9 while the bigger S9 Plus gets a 3,500 mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy S9+ will be priced at ₹70,000 for the 64GB variant and ₹79,000 for the 256GB variant.

Interested customers will have to pay Rs 2000 to secure their unit and the rest later.

Samsung Galaxy S9 begins near a cost of $720 in the United States which is Rs 46,000 plus in India.

However, is a jump in power enough to set the Galaxy S9 Plus on a whole new level when compared to one of this generation's most powerful phones?
