Sony has tweeted a video that teases an event on 26 February where the new smartphone is expected to get unveiled - yup, the day after the Samsung Galaxy S9 reveal. A leaked photo of what might be a prototype of the rumored Xperia XZ2 Compact surfaced yesterday, and (based on the picture), it may be another hard year for Sony.

According to the leak, the Sony Xperia XZ2 will pack a 5.8in screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio, while the Compact model will pack a more, er, compact 5in screen with an FHD+ resolution. For pricing, it is rumoured to be priced around 799 euros which is approx. This seems to be corroborated by an earlier Xperia Blog report, purportedly showing the Compact design. Sony's upcoming Xperia devices will not feature the familiar 3.5mm audio jack. Sony this week posted a teaser that hints of a major redesign coming to the Xperia lineup. Now ahead of the launch, pricing and specs of Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact have leaked, courtesy a Swedish website.

Both phones will apparently arrive powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 SoC, paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Sony certainly has the prowess to offer plenty more with its specialism in camera modules - it already showed off the super slow-motion camera in its Xperia XZ Premium.

Sony's renowned for its decades-long audio credentials, but a new report claims that the company is getting rid of its all-important headphone jack on its upcoming flagship smartphones. It is also rumored to feature Snapdragon 845 and 4 GB of RAM. The word on the street is that the Japanese tech giant may launch the Xperia XZ2, successor to the Xperia XZ1.

The Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact may bear a price tag of 5,990 SEK, a sum roughly around Rs. 47, 940.
