Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg penned the script for "Cobra Kai", and will executive produce with Susan Ekins, Will Smith, James Lassiter and Caleeb Pinkett. Hard to say. But we'll find out soon enough.

The almost fifty-second video offers the first look at "The Karate Kid" sequel series which is set 30 years after the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament.

This has a much more serious tone than I was expecting, but that's not surprising since YouTube Global Head of Original Content Susanne Daniels told us earlier this year that it was more of a dramedy.

The first Cobra Kai trailer is making the initial claim for series of being the best around (and nothing's gonna ever keep it down... you know the rest). Under the tutelage of their apartment complex's eccentric maintenance man Mr. Miyagi, Daniel learns about karate, and life, and ultimately faces and defeats Johnny in the All Valley Karate Tournament.

1984's The Karate Kid was directed by John G. Avildsen, and kicked off a new wave of martial arts pop culture mania in America.

EW also revealed the cast of the series. Courtney Henggeler will play Daniel's wife and business partner, Amanda, and Mary Mouser takes on the role of their daughter, Samantha. Meanwhile, Tanner Buchanan ("Designated Survivor") portrays Johnny's son Robby Keene, who's determined to prove himself to be nothing like his father. The first teaser trailer for Cobra Kai has arrived, and it hints at the push back that Johnny receives when he reopens the dojo years after it closed in disgrace.

In a neat surprise, Ed Asner is Sid Weinberg, Johnny's "reluctant old-school, hard-nosed, former studio mogul, who is exhausted of dealing with his stepson's failures".
